James Blunt asks Glastonbury to get naked

James Blunt asked Glastonbury to get naked after playing to a packed out Pyramid Stage this afternoon (June 28). The smiling besuited star ran from side to side of the stage clutching his guitar before starting the set. A few songs in an energetic Blunt joked: “You know if it gets too hot feel free to take your clothes off - especially the guys in the front row!” The solo star then played tracks including ‘High’ and ‘Wise Men’. With the good Glastonbury weather continuing, the sun beat down on Blunt’s singing fans. Switching from guitar to piano a few tracks in Blunt’s emotional rendition of ‘Goodbye My Lover’, which saw his band leave him solo on stage, had the gathered Pyramid Stage crowd swaying and singing along with Blunt beaming out at them. The rest of Blunt’s band then returned on stage to help out on a cover of Slade’s ‘Coz I Luv You’, which saw Blunt rocking out on the piano in the middle before running off stage to shake hands and hug members of the crowd’s front row. Blunt then returned to the stage clapping his hands above his head to finish the track to massive applause. Picking up his acoustic guitar the star and band then played 2005 worldwide hit ‘You’re Beautiful’, which ignited a huge singalong from the whole field for the duration of song. An obviously touched Blunt, who has played Glastonbury twice before, thanked the crowd saying: “I know the media’s trying to make something of it but we’re here and up for a laugh.” Before final track ‘1973′ Blunt exclaimed: “We’ve had a great time - thank you for having us Glastonbury, we’ll see you out there.” With the set finished Blunt wanted to document the gig and told the crowd to put their arms in the air so he could take a photo.
